The Partners of Brown & Bird have great pleasure in announcing Daniel Ross as Partner from 1 July 2017. Daniel was born in Mackay and has been an accountant with Brown & Bird since 2005. He specialises in tax, audit and consulting. Daniel's contribution to the Management Team will provide fresh ideas and youthful energy to a partnership that has always tried to blend youth and experience to provide a balanced, long term approach to our advice and client support. Daniel will continue working closely with Chris Wright and contribute to the success of Brown & Bird and its clients.

The Partners welcome Daniel to the leadership team.

Brown & Bird also celebrates 50 years of business this year. Brown & Bird started life as AHE Brown by Alan Brown in 1966 in premises situated on the corner of Sydney and Shakespeare Streets. John Bird joined Alan - hence the birth of Brown & Bird. By then, the business had transferred to the Brown Properties building where the premises on the first floor were bigger and better. Under the new partnership the business continued to prosper and staff numbers increased until Alan's retirement in 1978. At this time, Don Graham became the new Partner and John Bird the Senior Partner.

Craig Fraser became a Partner of the firm in 1985 and had worked in the firm since 1976. As the firm continued to grow, the need for more space became apparent. In 1982 the firm moved to 29 Peel Street and continued to grow until we ran out of office space again and in 1996 the firm moved to the AMP Building, 56 Gordon Street. John Bird retired from the Partnership in 1999 having contributed immensely to many community and political groups throughout the region and state.

On John's departure, Chris Wright and Ian Joblin became Partners of the firm. Chris having been born in Mackay and growing up on a cane farm brought extensive experience to the firm in the sugar industry. Ian was born in New South Wales and moved to Mackay in 1994. Ian's passion is in the area of Management Accounting and brings extensive knowledge to the firm in this area.

Don Graham retired in June 2001 and Craig Fraser became the Senior Managing Partner of the firm.

In 2005 Brown & Bird outgrew its premises and moved to 224 Victoria Street. Andrew Duck became a partner in 2006, Andrew worked closely with Craig Fraser until Craig retired in 2013.

In November 2015 Brown and Bird outgrew its premises and moved to 73 Victoria street where it is presently today.

The firm now has 4 partners and 25 staff.

Brown & Bird has become a well recognised and respected firm throughout Queensland.
